When your pet needs immediate attention, knowing where to go makes all the difference. At Hampton Roads Veterinary Urgent Care, we provide prompt treatment for urgent but non-life-threatening conditions, bridging the gap between routine veterinary visits and emergency hospital care.

What We Treat
Medical & Preventative Care
We’re here when your pet is uncomfortable but doesn’t require emergency hospitalization:
- Digestive issues (vomiting, diarrhea, HGE/AHDS)
- Infections (respiratory, urinary tract, ear)
- Skin concerns (allergies, hot spots, parasites)
- Eye problems and torn nails
- First-time seizures
- Non-life-threatening toxic ingestions
- Mobility issues (limping, lameness)
- Vaccinations (Rabies, DHPP, Leptospirosis, Bordetella, FVRCP)
- Select exotic pet concerns (excluding respiratory distress)
Surgical Care
Our surgical team performs vital soft-tissue procedures including:
- Foreign body removal

When To Go To The ER
Some conditions require the specialized facilities of a 24-hour emergency hospital. Seek immediate emergency care if your pet shows:
- Difficulty breathing or respiratory distress
- Continuous seizures
- Suspected or confirmed Parvo
- Severe trauma or multiple injuries
- Collapse or unresponsiveness
Our Emergency Response
If your pet arrives with a critical condition, we’ll provide stabilization care before facilitating transfer to a nearby emergency hospital such as VEST, Bay Beach, or The COVE. This includes initial support for trauma cases, Addisonian crises, diabetic emergencies, and severe metabolic conditions.
